Pantone's Very Peri 2022
The Colour Feed:
The most anticipated 'Colour of the Year' announcement is that of Pantone. This year they've invented a new colour especially for the occasion - the first time in history that they've done this and it's the purple toned, pink infused Very Peri. Initial reactions are that it's a huge improvement on last year's efforts where they couldn't choose a hue, so had two; a yellow and grey.
Pantone, who refer to themselved the 'global authority on colour' describe the shade as being a member of the blue family: "Encompassing the qualities of the blues, yet at the same time possessing a violet-red undertone, PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression.”
Purple is no doubt a colour that's conducive to creativity. It also connotes a strong sense of spirituality. After two turbulent years across the world adjusting to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, we're all craving some form of healing.
Whether we’re coping with changes in our personal life or are adusting to new ways of navigating work, healing energy sends us calming vibes at a chaotic time, and purple has more healing properties than any other colour.
Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2022, Veri Peri, and other shades and tones of the purple family contain elements of red and blue. Red is an active, uplifting shade, while blue connotes clarity and is the colour of communication. Purple is the culmination of both of these energies and brings with it spirituality and positivity making it a colour that is perfect for guiding us to a new future.
